As humans, it is important for us to pay close attention to the types of food we eat, in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Just like how we eat fruits and vegetables, it is essential that cars get good quality fuel. For most personal automobiles, we would want to use unleaded fuel. But not all unleaded fuels are created equal. There are some that are better than others. Now, you may ask which is the best? Each gas station typically has three types: regular, plus and premium. The latter would generally have the highest octane rating. That is a good thing. But even gases of same octane rating might be different. Now, what gas stations should we look for? After taking a survey from my friends who drive, they have identified Shell, Chevron and Costco to be the best. The worst of the national brands is Arco, according to drivers in the survey. Do you believe them? You should, because you generally feel the engine not as smooth when you are driving with poor fuel. When that happens, the health of your car begins to deteriorate and you will end up having to pay more to fix your car than to just buy healthy gas (eat healthy foods) in the first place.
Best place to buy gas
January 22nd, 2010Credit card debt and a case for public transportation
January 21st, 2010Hope things are going well. It is quite evident that during these tough economic times that credit card debt is a major issue in our society today. Many people spend too much money. Money that they don’t have and won’t be able to get to make ends meet. The first thing you can do is to practice frugality. Buying gas, for example, can be quite costly. Consider taking public transportation. Now, as new urbanism emerges in our cities and suburbs, public transit is an amenity for the middle and upper classes as well. It is no longer for poor people to use. Public transportatation adds value to nearby properties like condominiums and different mixed-use developments. Cities like Tokyo and Hong Kong take great pride in their extensive subway networks. Many cities in the United States including Seattle and Portland are beggining to emerge with different Light Rail systems. They add value to nearby property and help to save you money on gas, maintanance and other things. To learn more, please continue reading Gas? Where?. Thanks and have a great day!

Gasoline is a very common thing in everyday life
January 10th, 2010Gasoline is a very common thing in everyday life. This morning while I was checking my Google Reader, I decided to do a search for “gas” and here was what I found.
Many personal finance blogs that I follow mention “gas” usually in the expense recap or sometimes they just mention “gas” as a topic since it does affect all people whether or not they drive cars.
The Happy Rock
Mrs. DD spent $155.83 on gasoline in December 2009.

Where do you buy your gas from?
January 10th, 2010Where do you buy your gas from?
The intention of this post is to serve as a poll.
What area do you live in and what gas station do you use?
Personally I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and my favorite gas station is Chevron. Their gasoline seems to be of better quality than other types of automobiles.
What kind of automobile do you drive?
(Not all automobiles use the same type of gasoline, so we should keep that in mind).
I drive a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 190e, 2.6 liter engine. (Old car, I know – but can’t afford anything better at this point).
What was the last pump price?
Premium (the blue one) was about $3.30 or something like that.
Anyway, feel free to share your experiences by commenting on this post.
How can an MBA train you to be a better commodities trader (or whatever your job is)
January 9th, 2010Whether you work in the commodities field or are a manager of a manufacturing company, an MBA degree may be valuable to your work. The MBA, known as the Masters of Business Administration is offered by many universities in the United States and throughout the world. Most programs in the United States last for two years if taken full time and three to four if taken part time. Additionally, many of the programs allow you to add additional years of coursework to pair up with another graduate level discipline like law, medicine, public health or systems engineering.
What can an MBA do for you? Well, most people say it isn’t a ticket to a higher paying job, but if you apply the skills correctly, it will definitely help you go up the career ladder in your company. Now you may ask, what areas of business does the MBA cater to. Each program typically allows you to pick a major concentration or two depending on how you want to focus your degree.
